Seven call-ups for Deutschland Cup
Just before the start of the training camp in Krefeld (GER), several call-ups became necessary due to injury- and illness-related withdrawals. Alexander Schmidt, Ramon Schnetzer, Raphael Wolf, Nico Feldner, Tim Harnisch, Patrick Antal and Lucas Thaler have been added to the squad in place of Bernhard Starkbaum, Dominic Hackl, Gerd Kragl, Oliver Achermann, Benjamin Baumgartner, Mario Huber and Ali Wukovits. At their debut appearance at the Deutschland Cup, from 10–13 November, Austria will face Slovakia (10 November), hosts Germany (12 November) and Denmark (13 November). ORF Sport+ will broadcast all Austria matches live.

Head Coach Roger Bader: “Unfortunately, it is a normal process for withdrawals to occur shortly before the start of the national team week. It is not unusual for various call-ups to be made in the final 48 hours before departure. One person's misfortune is another's opportunity. We have a young (editor's note: average age 24), fast and formidable team ready to go. We are all looking forward to the upcoming Deutschland Cup.”
The national team will convene directly in Krefeld, where they will open the traditional tournament against Slovakia on Thursday, 10 November, at 16:15. This will be the 33rd edition overall and the first to feature Austrian participation. Opening opponents Slovakia, meanwhile, will be making their 23rd appearance. The traditional clash with Germany takes place on Saturday at 17:30, while the final match against Denmark starts as early as 11:00 on Sunday. ORF Sport+ will broadcast all Austria matches live.
General information about the Deutschland Cup
The Deutschland Cup was held for the first time in 1987. The venue at the time was Stuttgart. Over its 30-year history, leading nations including Canada, Russia, the USA, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland, Finland, Latvia, Italy, Poland, Denmark and Japan have accepted invitations from the German Ice Hockey Federation. A DEL All-Star Team in 1993 and Top Team Peking in 2020 also took to the ice.
