Schneider and the team return to Tampere with posi­tive memo­ries

Forward Peter Schneider and the team return to the Nokia Arena in Tampere with positive memories: "The team put in a very good performance there last year, we achieved the goal we had set ourselves and produced some very good games. Naturally, we are now looking forward to hopefully delivering an even better performance in the same place!"

The hand injury Schneider sustained in the Red Bull Salzburg final series against HC Bozen had been a major topic in recent days and weeks, but the goal scorer is ready for the World Championship: "First of all, I am absolutely delighted to be able to be part of it; it is a great honour. I am doing well and am already looking forward to the on-ice training on Wednesday and the game on Saturday."

According to Schneider, there are no problems when playing: "The injury to my hand has healed. I am ready to play and, just as I did in the final against Bozen, I will do so now at the World Championship!" Schneider, Austria's top scorer in the ÖEHV selection last year with nine points (3 goals, 6 assists), ranking seventh overall, wants to make an impact again at the World Championship: "I want to help the team, regardless of how; naturally, if that is through goals and assists, that is great. The primary objective is for us to put in a good performance as a team and for me to contribute too!"

One thing is certain: it will not only be the Austrian fans who will once again experience an ice hockey festival of the highest calibre in Tampere. Austria begin their 2023 World Championship campaign against France on Saturday, 13 May, at brunch time at 11:20.
