Schedule and fixtures for World Championship preparation
Following the February break, which saw them win the Four Nations Tournament in Copenhagen (DEN) with victories over Norway (2:1 after a shootout) and hosts Denmark (3:0), the sole focus is now on the 2023 World Championship and preparations. The national team will complete a total of five team camps and nine warm-up matches before the World Championship gets under way against France on 13 May.

“As usual, planning for World Championship preparations is a rolling process. Many players in Austria and abroad are still involved in the play-offs and are therefore unavailable. In recent years, the players from the first few weeks have always taken their opportunity, developed and put themselves forward for further duties. One or two have also caused a surprise and made the World Championship squad. Every individual player has the opportunity to make the World Championship,” stresses Head Coach Roger Bader.
World Championship preparations begin on 2 April in Villach, where the first warm-up match against Slovenia will also be played on 6 April*. The players called up will be those whose clubs have already been eliminated from the championship. In terms of the win2day ICE Hockey League, this includes, for example, all Austrian players not involved in the semi-finals.
By the final team camp, from 2 to 6 May in Vienna, Roger Bader will finally have all players from the domestic league at his disposal. Players and fans can look forward to a high-calibre programme over the five weeks of preparation. In addition to Division IA nation Italy and this year's promoted side Slovenia, Austria will face the leading nations Germany, Czechia and Slovakia.
