Sandro Kalegaris: Para ice hockey top scorer in action at the Paralympics
Since last Friday, the sporting spotlight has been on the Paralympics, which are being held in Milan and Cortina d´Ampezzo (ITA) from 6–15 March. Italy's Para ice hockey national team is relying on this season's top scorer in the Austrian Para ice hockey championship. The Paralympics will also be the last major event at which the Carinthian will play for our neighbours. In future, he will once again be seen in the red-and-white jersey.

Red is also the main colour of his club, KAC Para Eishockey, with whom he confidently won the championship. Sandro Kalegaris scored 13 goals in the two final games of the best-of-three series alone. In the regular season, he recorded eight goals and three assists.
The recently concluded season was the first as the International Para Hockey League. With the South Tyrol Eagles from Italy, the league welcomed a top team, who also won the regular season.
The new IPHL is generating a sense of optimism among players and officials alike, Sandro Kalegaris: “You can feel that things are moving in Austria. With the new league and the developments, including club foundations in other federal states such as Vorarlberg, a good basis is being created for the positive development of our sport.”
This, along with the fact that Sandro will also be able to play alongside his teammates from the league and club in the national team, prompted the 35-year-old to represent Austria again in future.
For now, however, his focus is on Italy. The big goal: a medal.
