Salzburg quintet and Rossi bolster ÖEHV team

“I am naturally very pleased that he can come and will be with us from the start,” says Head Coach Roger Bader of the reinforcement from across the Atlantic. One of the top scorers in the AHL, Rossi was also included in the Minnesota Wild squad at times during their play-off series against the Dallas Stars, which the Texans won 4:2. The 21-year-old is already on his way to Europe and will be present when the team first assembles on Tuesday. “That is important, as he also has to overcome the jet lag and get used to the European ice surface again, which is larger than the one in the NHL,” adds Roger Bader.

Rossi last took to the ice for Austria in Olympic qualifying in August 2021.

The Salzburg quintet of Raffl, Wukovits, Heinrich, Huber and Nissner is now also available to the Head Coach for the final preparation camp. Last year, the Salzburg players only joined the team in week three, following their 4:0 sweep in the 2022 final.

Peter Schneider remains a doubt after it emerged that he has broken his hand.

Head Coach Roger Bader: “Even though this is the final team camp before the World Championship, we cannot yet speak of the World Championship squad. We currently have 25 skaters in the squad, and we will travel to the World Championship with 22. Including Schneider at this stage, we are even talking about 26 players, meaning that four players will still be cut overall. The aim of this camp is to identify this World Championship team, establish the definitive line combinations and then work on them.”
