Sabres St. Pölten face MAC Budapest in the EWHL quarter-finals – High­landers vs. Eagles South Tyrol

The Lakers Kärnten narrowly missed out on reaching the EWHL playoffs: although the Carinthians secured two wins against Tauron Metropolia Silesia this weekend, they fell just short of playoff qualification. Following a 3:2 win in a penalty shootout on Saturday, the Carinthians added a 3:1 victory on Sunday. However, they would have needed two wins in regulation time to secure a place in the post-season.

Meanwhile, league leaders HK PSRZ Bratislava recorded a 5:2 win over the Salzburg Eagles. Aisulu Almaty beat Sabres St. Pölten 6:2 on Sunday.

The European Women’s Hockey League quarter-final match-ups:

The quarter-final ties will be decided over two legs, home and away, in Champions Hockey League (CHL) format. The aggregate score from the two matches played will be used. The team leading on aggregate after the home and away legs will advance to the semi-finals.

If the aggregate score is level at the final buzzer after 120 minutes, the tie will be decided by a ten-minute three-on-three overtime period and, if necessary, a penalty shootout featuring five shooters per team. This means there will be no overtime in the first leg. The respective first leg ends after 60 minutes, either in a draw or with a win in regulation time.
