Sabres St. Pölten are EWHL Cham­pions 2025/26

Eager to claim their seventh EWHL title, Sabres St. Pölten made a strong start to the second leg of the final against Aisulu Almaty – a repeat of last season’s final. Carrying a 3:1 lead from the first leg, Tamina Schall opened the scoring again on Sunday. Schall had also scored the opening goal in the first leg of the final. Just one minute later, Verena Haselsteiner made it 2:0 for the Lower Austrians. Aisulu were able to pull one back in the middle period, but the Sabres played smartly in the final period and did not let the title slip away: Madison Laberge made it 3:1, securing Sabres St. Pölten’s seventh championship title.

Whether the Sabres can complete the double – winning the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League in addition to the EWHL title – will be decided on 3 and 4 April at the AWHL Final-4 at the Merkur Arena in Graz. Tickets for the final tournament are available here

MAC Budapest claim third place

Despite a narrow defeat in the second match for third place against the KSV Highlanders, MAC Budapest secured third place with an aggregate score of 5:3. Andrea Kantorova scored the only goal of the second leg in Kapfenberg after just four minutes of play. Despite enjoying a clear edge in chances, the two goals still required to force overtime could not be found.

MAC Budapest therefore secured third place in the European Women’s Hockey League thanks to their 5:2 home win on Friday.
