Rotter ruled out until the end of the year

The Moser Medical Graz99ers , who have recently been playing strongly in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, are strengthening their defence. 24-year-old Olle Alsing is joining the club in Graz. Olsing is moving from Sweden to Graz for the coming weeks.

In recent years, the defenceman has shown his class in the SHL and in the Champions Hockey League, which was cancelled for 2020/21. The current Swedish international was recently selected in the NHL Draft, as were three Austrians. The Ottawa Senators secured the rights to the defenceman and are now loaning the current Swedish international to Graz.

The new signing is expected in Graz as early as Wednesday and can be recalled by Ottawa at any time. "We are very much looking forward to Olle Alsing. He is considered a major talent and has demonstrated his ability in Sweden in recent years. It is no coincidence that Ottawa signed him," said 99ers manager Bernd Vollmann.

The EC Red Bull Salzburg will initially have to do without Mario Huber for the coming weeks. The 24-year-old sustained a foot injury during off-ice training which even required surgery. He left Salzburg's accident hospital on Tuesday and is now beginning rehabilitation.

In his two appearances so far, the Tyrolean has contributed three assists. Since joining from his youth club HC Innsbruck, the ÖEHV international has been a regular part of the Salzburg squad, having played 193 league games and 20 in the Champions Hockey League for the "Bulls" so far.

Huber is something of an ever-present; apart from the two seasons in the QMJHL with the Victoriaville Tigres and last year with HC Innsbruck, the new injury ends a run of 339 consecutive games. Goaltender Lukas Herzog, who will miss the entire season with a hip injury, has also successfully undergone surgery.

Forced lay-off for Rafael Rotter: The forward for the spusu Vienna Capitals sustained a lower-body injury in last Sunday's 6:1 victory at HC Innsbruck and will be sidelined until the end of the year. Following thorough examinations with team doctor Dr Lukas Brandner, the club decided "in favour of surgical treatment", as the Viennese side announced in a statement on Monday.

This is expected to result in "a faster healing process and also the possibility of starting functional therapy early", said Brandner, who will operate on Rotter at the Rudolfinerhaus in the coming days. It continues a painful run for Rotter. The 33-year-old was already sidelined by lengthy lower-body injuries in each of the past two seasons.

"It is like a curse, but that is ice hockey," Rotter commented on his latest injury lay-off, promising: "I will work on my comeback with all my energy and return even stronger!"
