Rossi first Euro­pean top scorer

The regular season in the Ontario Hockey League is now also over prematurely for Marco Rossi – as in the major US professional leagues, the season will not be completed due to the coronavirus crisis.

For the Vorarlberg native, however, this represents a milestone no European had previously achieved. The 18-year-old finished as the OHL's top scorer with 120 points (31 goals, 81 assists) from 56 games, earning the "Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy". He follows in the footsteps of names such as Tyler Seguin and John Tavares.

With his 120 points, Rossi matched the mark set by future NHL superstar Connor McDavid in the 2014/15 season. His nearest challenger, Cole Perfetti, finished with nine fewer points despite playing five more games. No player in Canada's other two junior leagues can match Rossi either. It has not yet officially been decided whether the play-offs will still be held. In just under three months (26–27.6), the NHL Draft will take place in Montreal.
