Ritten and Zell close in on Alps Hockey League leaders Jesenice

League leaders HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice dropped a point away to the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers on Saturday evening. The Slovenians made the better start and took a 1:0 lead in the first period, but the Unterland Cavaliers looked considerably more dangerous in the second and temporarily turned the game around to lead 2:1. Jesenice managed to force overtime, where Žiga Urukalo's goal secured the decision in favour of the league leaders.

Rittner Buam SkyAlps celebrated an important win in the top-5 clash against EC Adler Kitzbühel. After a scoreless first period, Ritten were extremely efficient on the power play, scoring two man-advantage goals. Although Kitzbühel pulled one back in the middle period, they could not find a way to beat goaltender Colin Furlong again as the game progressed.

EK Zeller Eisbären claimed a 4:3 away win at KHL Sisak, cutting the gap to leaders Jesenice to one point. Zell made the better start and went into the first break with a 1:0 lead. The Croatians temporarily turned the game around and took the lead in the middle period. However, the Eisbären hit back three times in the same period and, after 40 minutes, laid the foundations for victory with the 4:2. Sisak did pull one back but could no longer force overtime.

Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan beat HK RST Pellet Celje 5:2 on Saturday evening. After 40 minutes, however, Celje still led 2:1. A strong final period from the Broncos turned the game around and secured the three points. Adam Capannelli shone with two goals and two assists.

HC Meran/o celebrated a 3:2 overtime win over HC Gherdeina. Neither team was able to beat the opposing goaltender in the first period. Meran took the lead in the middle period, but Gherdeina responded immediately. The third period was similarly evenly balanced, with the game going to overtime at 3:3, where Massimo Pietroniro scored his second goal of the evening to seal the win.

S.G. Cortina Hafro recorded a 4:2 win over Red Bull Hockey Juniors, consolidating their place in the top 5. The young Salzburg side made the better start, taking a 1:0 lead. However, Cortina turned the game around by the 34-minute mark and led 2:1. The Juniors did equalise early in the final period, but Cortina showed composure in the closing stages and secured the points with a 4:2 win.
