Reinbacher and Herburger given rest / Leon Wallner called up
The Austrian men's ice hockey national team begins its World Championship preparations this Monday. Head Coach Roger Bader will take to the ice in Villach for the first time with a 22-man squad. David Reinbacher and Raphael Herburger will be given another week of rest due to minor injuries, before joining the national team from next week's team camp in Innsbruck. Leon Wallner has been called up. Slovenia will be the first warm-up opponent on the road to the World Championship in Tampere (FIN) and Riga (LAT) on Thursday, 6 April, at 17:30, live on ORF Sport+.

In order to join the national team at 100 per cent fitness, David Reinbacher and veteran Raphael Herburger will be given some rest at the start. The defenceman and forward will join the national team next week.
Leon Wallner, meanwhile, will get his first opportunity in the World Championship preparations. The 20-year-old made his national team debut in spring 2021 and took part in the U20 World Championship, which was rescheduled last summer after numerous COVID cases at the end of December 2021.
