Coach training has been standardised throughout Austria by Sport Austria (BSO) and the three specialist sports associations ASKÖ, ASVÖ and SPORTUNION. The theoretical and practical-methodological training is divided into two modules, with the first module serving as the basis for all special modules.

Module: Coach Basic Module

  • Organised and delivered by one of the three specialist sports associations
  • Basic Module 1 is offered at many locations throughout Austria – for a detailed overview of upcoming courses, see: https://fortbildung.sportaustria.at/
  • Sport-independent course content
  • 21 teaching units of 45 minutes each
  • Multiple-choice examination (1 unit)
  • Participation in a first-aid course

Completion of the Sport Austria Coach Basic Module is required to participate in the ice hockey-specific Coach Special Module.

Module: Coach Special Module

  • Organised and delivered by the regional associations in coordination with ÖEHV
  • Sport-specific content
  • At least 25 teaching units
  • Practical teaching demonstration (examination)

Upon successful completion of both modules, the Coach certificate is issued. This certificate can be used to apply for a licence from ÖEHV.

The Coach Special Module organised by KEHV will take place at Villach Ice Rink from 09 to 10 September 2023. Full ice hockey equipment must be brought along. The course will be led by Florian Mühlstein.
