Regional asso­ci­a­tions unan­i­mously elect Jürgen Hampel to the ÖEHV Exec­u­tive Board

“We are delighted to welcome Jürgen Hampel, an experienced regional association president, as part of the ÖEHV Executive Board. We created this role in 2022 with the amendment to the statutes at the time so that the regional associations would be directly represented on the ÖEHV Executive Board, enabling them to have a more direct and greater say in shaping and further developing our sport, as well as giving the interests and concerns of the regional associations a direct voice on the Executive Board,” explains ÖEHV President Klaus Hartmann, who emphasises: “Jürgen Hampel is extremely motivated and contributes with great energy and drive.”

The newly elected ÖEHV Vice-President Jürgen Hampel explains: “It is important to me that we build a cooperative partnership for the future of Austrian ice hockey. I believe it is important that we develop an understanding of one another and coordinate on difficult issues.”

In 2023, Jürgen Hampel brought together Lower Austria’s four ice sports associations for ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating and ice stock sport under the Eis-Union NÖ in order to develop a future concept for ice sports in Lower Austria. This initiative was prompted by shortages of training slots and poor or inadequate infrastructure.

Jürgen Hampel himself worked for ten years as head of youth development in Lower Austria and knows the challenges and needs of grassroots sport as well as youth and elite sport. “Without the work of countless volunteers, we would have no ice surfaces or training sessions. Around 700 children play ice hockey in Lower Austria, and in some cases this is only possible thanks to the commitment of volunteers. Alongside infrastructure, youth development and volunteering are particularly important to me,” explains Jürgen Hampel.

Personal details

Jürgen Hampel is in a relationship and is the father of a 17-year-old son. He successfully completed degree programmes in Business Management and Business Psychology at FH Wien and has held various sales management and management roles in Austria and abroad, including at Würth Group, Maurer-Atmos Middleby GmbH, Interwetten, ASTOTEC and others. He has also worked independently as a sales and organisational consultant for gfo – gesellschaft für organisation e.V., VDQ Business Solutions GmbH and b-k-p Consulting GmbH.

Jürgen Hampel is currently opening a new chapter in the hospitality industry as the owner and operator of the “Obm-am-See” venue on Lake Attersee. 

In addition to ice hockey, his hobbies include golf and SK Rapid Wien.
