After EC Red Bull Salzburg played their final league-phase match against Sparta Prague on Tuesday (1:2), the final standings of the CHL league phase have now been confirmed following the conclusion of the final matchday. With four wins and two defeats, the Red Bulls finished in 8th place and will therefore face Finnish top club Lahti Pelicans. The first leg against Lahti Pelicans is scheduled for 12 November, with the return leg in Salzburg set for 20 November.

At their ninth appearance, the Red Bulls have reached the knockout stage of Europe's premier competition for the eighth time. Their greatest success to date was reaching the semi-finals in the 2018/2019 season, when Salzburg came up short against their Red Bull colleagues from Munich.

The injury-hit EC-KAC were unable to keep pace with the Swiss champions in their final Champions Hockey League match of the season. In front of their home crowd, the "Red Jackets" found themselves 0:1 behind early on. Zürich stepped up the pressure significantly in the second period and extended their lead to 4:0. Simeon Schwinger did score in the final period, but Zürich ultimately prevailed 5:1. EC-KAC concluded their CHL campaign with two wins and four defeats.
