Red Bull Hockey Juniors vs. Zeller Eisbären derby for the Austrian AHL cham­pi­onship

The two highest-ranked Austrian teamsafter the six rounds of the regular season- which concluded today with the EC Bregenzerwald vs. Red Bull Hockey Juniors game (2:6) - of the Austrian Alps Hockey League championship, for which the games of the completed first and second legs (= the respective 1 home and 1 away match) were used and counted, will contest the final: The Red Bull Hockey Juniors will face EK Die Zeller Eisbären in the derby in the final for the Austrian Alps Hockey League championship 2025/2026 on 12 February and 14 February.

The Champions Hockey League format will be used in mid-February, with the higher-ranked club, Red Bull Hockey Juniors, starting away from home. The aggregate score (points and goals) from the two games played will be used. Overtime and a penalty shoot-out can only take place in the second leg if the aggregate score is tied. In that case, there will be a 10-minute sudden-death overtime played three-on-three. Should the overtime remain scoreless, a shoot-out follows with five shooters per team.

Juniors extend their lead in the Alps Hockey League

The Juniors celebrated their third win in a row and extended their lead at the top of the standings. In front of more than 1.500 spectators, Eliseev, Lanzinger, Bloch, Auer and Oberhauser had already given them a comfortable 5:0 lead in the first period. Kramer pulled one back for Bregenzerwald in the second period before Grasser made it 2:5 shortly before the end. Eliseev rounded off the scoring with his second goal, a power-play marker, for the 6:2 final score.

Just under 2.700 fans were treated to plenty of action in the top match. Asiago made a dream start with goals from Johnson and Calisti, but the reigning champions hit back in the middle period to make it 2:2. Asiago regained the lead in the final period before Uschan levelled again. Porco's power-play goal ultimately decided the game. With their fifth consecutive AHL win, Asiago took a major step towards the Master Round.

Just under 1.100 fans watched Kitzbühel claim a comfortable home win in Head Coach Rob Daum's debut. The home side took an early lead through Fröwis before Cortina equalised on the power play through Pompanin. Three goals in the space of ten minutes in the middle period effectively decided the contest, with Podlipnik completing the scoring in the 57th minute. With their fourth consecutive home win, Kitzbühel climbed back into the top 5.

Unterland claimed their first win against Sterzing in the third meeting of the season. The bottom side started strongly but initially failed to take their chances. The game remained scoreless until the 44th minute, when Erik Potsinok scored a natural hat-trick within ten minutes to decide the game. Twin brother Marek Potsinok sealed the final score at 4:0. Goaltender Tizian Giovanelli shone with 29 saves to give Unterland their first shutout of the season.
