Red Bull Hockey Juniors edge Adler Kitzbühel in Alps Hockey League show­down

Red Bull Hockey Juniors claimed a narrow 2:1 home win over Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel to move into third place in the standings. With 14 points, the Salzburg side are now two points ahead of fifth-placed Kitzbühel, who suffered their second consecutive defeat. The Juniors recorded their third win in their fifth home game of the season and have collected points in all of their home fixtures so far.

Mathias Böhm did not put the home side ahead until the 36th minute. The score remained 1:0 until shortly before the final buzzer, when Nico Koschek made it 2:0 in the 59th minute – Kitzbühel had already pulled their goaltender. RBJ netminder Luca Haitzmann narrowly missed out on a shutout, as Kitzbühel captain Henrik Hochfilzer scored the final 2:1 with 36 seconds remaining.

In front of almost 1.900 fans, defending champions EK Die Zeller Eisbären delivered a strong performance to defeat S.G. Cortina Hafro 3:1. Tim Coffman gave the home side the lead in the sixth minute – his fourth goal in the past two games after scoring a hat-trick in Asiago on Saturday. Still in the first period, 16-year-old Paul Sintschnig converted a penalty shot to make it 2:0.

The EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV cooperation player was named Young Star of the Month in the win2day ICE Hockey League in September after becoming the youngest player to score two goals in a game. Sintschnig provided the assist for Christian Jennes' 3:1 goal (45th minute, power play), as he did for the 1:0. Cortina could only score a short-handed consolation goal eight minutes from time. The win lifted Zell am See to sixth in the standings, while Cortina sit ninth.

HC Gherdeina valgardena.it's four-game winning streak came to an end in Ritten. Rittner Buam SkyAlps claimed a clear 5:1 derby victory. Leonardo Felicetti was the man of the match with three goals – from 3:1 to 5:1, including a short-handed goal. Gröden remain second in the standings, but could have moved top with a win in Ritten. Ritten are fourth, just one point behind.

In the fourth game of the day, HDD Jesenice beat Hockey Unterland Cavaliers 7:4 in an offence-minded contest. It was the previous season's finalists' second win of the campaign, while Unterland remain bottom of the table. Jasa Jenko and Tjas Lesnicar each scored twice. After Unterland had taken the lead as early as the fourth minute, Jesenice pulled away to 4:1 by the 25th minute and ultimately celebrated a comfortable home win.
