Recommendation to wear neck protection
Since the tragic accidental death of Adam Johnson at the end of October, the introduction of mandatory neck protection has been discussed by the IIHF, national associations and all leagues. Wearing neck and throat protection is mandatory throughout youth hockey. The ÖEHV welcomes the recent decision by the win2day ICE Hockey League to make neck protection mandatory.

We also expect a decision from the IIHF regarding national team events in the coming weeks. Due to the enormous demand now, it is necessary to clarify how quickly sufficient suitable neck and throat protectors can be procured and delivered.
The ÖEHV once again urgently recommends that all players and referees wear neck protection.
