Rauchenwald heads to Sweden
After seven years in Salzburg, forward Alexander Rauchenwald is trying his hand abroad for the first time.

For the first time in his career, Alexander Rauchenwald can call himself an ÖEHV player abroad. The 28-year-old is leaving EC Red Bull Salzburg after seven years for Sweden, where he will join Västerås IK in the Allsvenskan.
The Villach native and cousin of Thomas and Michael Raffl joined the "Eis-Bullen" in 2014 after his first professional appearances for EC VSV, and had played there ever since. In total, Rauchenwald made 426 Bundesliga appearances for the two clubs, recording 70 goals and 85 assists.
Rauchenwald has so far taken to the ice in 49 games for the ÖEHV national team (three goals, five assists). He made particular headlines between October 2019 and February 2020, when the forward was diagnosed with lymph node cancer, made a full recovery and was able to celebrate his return to the ice.
