R.I.P Stocki

Günter “Coco” Stockhammer was sadly only 59 years old. He died suddenly far too soon while on holiday on Mykonos (GRE). Ice hockey was his passion in life. As a national team player, coach and TV commentator, his positive and joyful nature will always remain in our hearts. R.I.P Stocki!

Also passed away in August:

Ewald Moik (1.6.1958 - 7.8.2021)
Ewald Moik joined the team as a masseur in the early days of the Austrian women’s national ice hockey team and became part of the women’s ice hockey family. He was also there for the first World Championship appearance in Maribor in 2004, as well as in 2005, 2007 (North Korea), 2008 (Finland – promotion) and at the home World Championship in 2009. He then took a short break and looked after, among others, the Graz 99ers in the EBEL at the time. In 2014, he made his comeback with the “girls” at the World Championship in Prerov, and was once again part of the World Championships in 2015 and 2016. At the home World Championship in 2017, he said he only wanted to “watch and enjoy”, but, as always, that was not to be: not only did he organise his family and friends as volunteers for this major event, he also helped out himself wherever someone was needed. And so he was always there for others whenever he could be, and helped… Thank you for everything, Ewald!

Konrad Amann (22.1.1951 – 3.8.2021)
Following the re-establishment of the women’s U18 national team, a physiotherapist was needed and Konrad “Koni” Amann joined through the recommendation of then U18 head coach Miro Berek. He was also part of the team for its first-ever U18 World Championship appearance – in Chambery, France, in 2008. He then “moved” to the senior national team, where he contributed to its successful performances as part of the support staff at the World Championships in 2011 and 2012, among others. Even after his active time, Austrian women’s ice hockey could always count on him – one call to Koni was enough… Thank you for everything, Koni!
