As part of the Alps Hockey League (AHL) quarter-final pick on Wednesday, the top three teams from the regular season selected their opponents.
With the first pick, regular-season winners HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana chose Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. The second Slovenian team, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, will face HC Gherdeina Valgardena.it.
While HC Pustertal were still able to select EHC Lustenau, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey were left with S.G. Cortina Hafro as their quarter-final opponents. The best-of-five quarter-final series begin on 27 and 28 March.
From an Austrian perspective, only EHC Lustenau, winners of the AHL Austrian play-off, remain in contention. Red Bull Hockey Juniors, VEU Feldkirch and EC Bregenzerwald were eliminated from the pre-play-offs after two defeats.
