PWHL: Anna Meixner finishes her debut season in 2nd place

Like her national team colleague Theresa Schafzahl last year, Anna Meixner had to watch Minnesota lift the Walter Cup this year. Ottawa Charge lost the final series 1:3 to the reigning champions on Monday evening at the Xcel Energy Center. Minnesota's decisive goal came after twelve minutes of overtime.

It was a doubly bitter ending for Anna Meixner. Not only did her team miss the chance to force a deciding game, but Austria's national team captain was injured midway through the second period and could only leave the arena on crutches. No further details of the injury are known.

Ottawa won the first game of the best-of-five final series. However, Minnesota turned the series around, winning all games by a margin of just one goal. This was also the case in the final game, which they won 2:1 in overtime in front of more than 11.000 spectators.

Liz Schepers scored the game-winning goal for Minnesota after around twelve minutes of overtime.
