Play-offs: EHC Lustenau pick HDK Maribor – WEV select EHC Crocodiles Kundl
On Sunday, following the conclusion of the regular season, the play-off pick took place for the second time in the still young history of the Ö Eishockey Liga. Following the pick round, the eagerly anticipated inter-regional quarter-final match-ups have been confirmed. Division West winners EHC Lustenau picked HDK Maribor. Division East winners Wiener Eislauf-Verein selected EHC Crocodiles Kundl. Defending champions Kapfenberg will face runners-up SC Hohenems in a repeat of last year's final. HC Kufstein will take on Sharks Gmunden.

The dominant Division West winners, EHC Lustenau , selected the fourth-placed team from Division East, HDK Maribor . Wiener Eislauf-Verein , as Division East winners, selected the fourth-placed team from Division West, EHC Crocodiles Kundl .
This resulted in the two remaining quarter-final match-ups: defending champions Kapfenberger SV will face last season's runners-up SC Samina Hohenems in the last eight. HC Kufstein will play against UEHV CAM4DENT Sharks Gmunden.
From the quarter-finals onwards, ties will be decided over two legs in the Champions Hockey League (CHL) format. The winner on aggregate will progress to the semi-finals. The first legs, in which the higher-ranked clubs will play away first, will take place on Saturday, 08 February. The second legs will be held a week later, on Saturday, 15 February. The semi-final match-ups will then be confirmed.
