Play Fair Code: 38 training sessions in 2025 alone

For several years, the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation has been a member of the Play Fair Code, the association for safeguarding integrity in sport. Every year, our players are made aware of match-fixing and betting fraud through workshops and training sessions, while possible and appropriate ways of behaving in such situations are outlined. In addition, work is being done to raise broad general awareness of the problem of match-fixing. The 2025 annual report lists 38 training sessions in ice hockey and highlights the #NoManipulation campaign at Austria vs. Canada, a World Championship warm-up match.

“The path to a successful career in ice hockey is not only through hard training, but also through a well-developed awareness of integrity in sport. In order to prepare young athletes as effectively as possible for their future, the Play Fair Code was once again able to play its part and convey important information on the issue of manipulation and the proper approach to sports betting,” explains Marc Orlainsky of the Play Fair Code.

Of the 159 training sessions held in the past year, 38 were in ice hockey. The second-highest number after football. A large proportion of the training sessions were held in the international U18 and U20 leagues in particular, as part of the ÖEHV prevention plan (PFC training sessions every 2 years). Within four months, 28 training sessions were held with a total of 681 participants.

The partnership with the Play Fair Code extends far beyond the training sessions. As in 2024, the players of the motherland of ice hockey once again wore the #NoManipulation social media slogan on their chests in 2025 for the final World Championship warm-up match against Canada. An important message for everyone in support of clean sport.
