Para national team in action at the Olmütz Cup this weekend

“From a sporting perspective, the tournament will be a major challenge. There are consistently strong teams taking part,” reveals Para head coach Lucas Herrnegger, who has set his team the target of a top-4 finish in the eight-team field. To achieve this, they must first finish in the top two of their group, where they will face the South Tyrol Eagles (ITA), the Czech Junior Team (CZE) and Para Hockey Havirov (CZE).

That would put them into the semi-finals and in contention for the title. In addition to the target of a high finish, the continued development of Herrnegger is also a focus: “There is a lot of work ahead of us. We want to improve and continue developing steadily.”

Following the tournament in Olmütz, the programme will continue in October with a three-day camp in Zeltweg, which will again include a Para Hockey Day. This will give interested visitors the opportunity to speak with national team players and discover the fastest team sport on ice.

Playing time in the group stage and the games for 3rd and 5th place: 2 x 15 minutes
If tied, a penalty shoot-out with five different shooters
If still tied, the penalty shoot-out continues until a decision is reached

Final: 3 x 15 minutes
If tied after regulation time, 5 minutes of overtime (4 versus 4 players).
