ÖEL set to return to training and match action

Following the Ministry of Sport's request to suspend training and match action during the lockdown, despite the ÖEHV having rightly granted permission for these activities based on its own legal assessment, Austria's highest exclusively domestic league is looking ahead to the coming week with confidence.

Last week, the Ministry of Sport asked the ÖEL to suspend training and match action during the lockdown. This was preceded by an enquiry from a district administrative authority to the Ministry of Sport. In granting permission for training and match action, the ÖEHV adhered to the legal framework.

In order to clarify the matter with the Ministry of Sport, the ÖEHV, in consultation with ÖEL representatives, decided to temporarily suspend the ÖEL's elite sport certificate and thus pause training and match action. Since then, it has been in close contact with the Ministry of Sport in order to prevent any renewed suspension of training and match action during possible future lockdowns.

Nevertheless, the current lockdown is drawing to a close. Depending on the federal and provincial regulations, which are expected by the weekend at the latest, ÖEL clubs will resume training and match action.
