ÖEHV: Positive interim assessment of the livestreaming project – the success story of LIVE.eishockey.at
The OTT platform LIVE.eishockey.at was launched in September 2022. Since then, more than 3.000 games have been streamed live on the site, it now has more than 15.000 registered users and has generated a six-figure sum for Austrian ice hockey. The platform is set to be further expanded in the coming months.

The first games streamed on LIVE.eishockey.at were those of the U18 women's national team at the World Championship Division IB in Radenthein, where the team coached by Head Coach Mario Bellina earned promotion to Division IA.
Since the 2022/2023 season, all games from a total of eleven leagues, all national team games on Austrian soil not broadcast on free-to-air television, as well as tournaments such as the World Tournament in Zell am See, have been available on LIVE.eishockey.at. More than 3.000 games have been made available since then. 98 per cent of these were broadcast flawlessly, without any disruptions or outages.
Various youth highlights and World Championship games are also personally commentated by ORF legend Michael Berger.
In the current season alone, the number of registered users has increased by 40 per cent, meaning the potential of the livestreaming platform is far from exhausted. In addition to the live ice hockey experience, the livestream gives teams the opportunity to carry out in-depth video analysis using the footage provided.
25 per cent of the revenue goes directly to the supported club. In addition, part of the revenue goes to the OTT platform operator and to the ÖEHV to refinance investment and maintenance costs (hardware & software). In total, € 100.000.- has been reinvested in Austrian ice hockey over the past year and a half.

In record time, we succeeded in implementing the livestreaming project with our partner "Data in Motion", installing the cameras and setting up the necessary OTT platform. The figures speak for themselves: 3.000 live games, 15.000 registered users and € 100.000 flowing directly to the clubs and into Austrian ice hockey. In several leagues, we are only just at the start of the play-offs, where experience tells us that we generate strong revenues on LIVE.eishockey.at. We are working intensively to make the livestreaming offering even more attractive from next season onwards, especially our subscription packages.”
