ÖEHV forward Vinzenz Rohrer extends contract with ZSC Lions in Zurich by one year

Vinzenz Rohrer will spend another season hunting goals in Zurich. The 20-year-old became Swiss champion with the Lions at the end of April after a victory in the seventh final game against HC Lausanne, where Michael Raffl plays. With his carefree and aggressive style of play, Rohrer became a fan favourite among the Lions supporters last season. 

Unless the NHL comes calling earlier, Rohrer remains under contract in Zurich for the 2025/2026 season. However, Rohrer could move to the best league in the world as early as next season: the forward, who can play at centre or on the right wing, was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in 2022 in the third round, tenth overall in that round and as the 75. pick overall. According to the ZSC Lions, this also applies should Rohrer have to join the Laval Rocket in the AHL, the Canadiens’ farm team.

Rohrer, who most recently bolstered Austria's men's national ice hockey team at the 2024 Deutschland Cup in Landshut and was also part of the World Championship team during its sensational performance in Prague in May, contributing two assists, currently has nine points (7 goals, 2 assists) in 17 games in the Swiss National League. In total, Rohrer has played 81 league games for Zett, as ZSC Lions are also known, recording 32 points.
