ÖEHV forward Anna Meixner scores goal and adds assist on Ottawa Charge debut
That is how you introduce yourself to a new team: ÖEHV captain Anna Meixner scored a goal and added an assist in her very first appearance for Ottawa Charge in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) preseason game against Boston Fleet, where fellow Austrian Theresa Schafzahl is under contract.

After the score had been 1:1 following the first period at Montreal’s Verdun Auditorium, where the exhibition game was played, Ottawa Charge really got going in the second period and pulled away to 4:1 with three consecutive goals. Anna Meixner made it 3:1 and set up Emily Clark’s goal for 4:1.
Ottawa eventually won 6:1, with Meixner logging a total of 10:54 minutes of ice time and posting a +2 plus/minus rating.
ÖEHV colleague Theresa Schafzahl was held scoreless in 13:42 minutes of ice time for Boston Fleet, but fired three shots on the opposing net. Schafzahl scored the first PWHL goal for her club PWHL Boston in her first appearance as a professional ice hockey player at the beginning of January, making club history in the process.
Overall, the Styrian recorded six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in 20 regular-season games, adding three assists in eight playoff games.
Following the Preseason Mini Camp in Montreal, the final roster cut will take place next week before the PWHL regular season begins on 30 November.
