ÖEHV captain Anna Meixner extends her contract with Ottawa Charge in the PWHL for another year

In her debut season in North America, Meixner reached the Walter Cup final with Ottawa, but her team suffered a 1:3 defeat to Minnesota Frost in the best-of-five series. She was injured in the decisive game, of all games, in front of more than 11.000 fans at Saint Paul’s Xcel Energy Center. The club from the Canadian capital has now announced that the contract of the ÖEHV forward from Zell am See has been extended by one year. 

“We are excited to see Anna’s development next season, as she became an important part of our offence in the second half of the season and in the playoffs,” Charge General Manager Mike Hirshfeld said on the Charge website, adding: “After adjusting from European hockey, she made great strides towards the end of the season.”

The Salzburg native recorded one goal and one assist in 28 regular-season games after being selected by Ottawa Charge in the sixth round of the 2024 PWHL Draft, and added two assists in eight playoff games.

The left-shot player wearing number 94 is the eighth forward signed by Ottawa Charge for the 2025/2026 season, alongside captain Brianne Jenner, Emily Clark, Gabbie Hughes, Kateřina Mrázová, Rebecca Leslie, Taylor House and newcomer Élizabeth Giguère.

Meixner captained the national team to a historic gold medal and promotion to the Top Division at the World Championship Division IA in China in April, leading the way with eight points (four goals, four assists). As a result, the women’s national team will compete in the top World Championship division for the first time in its history next year. It is not yet known where the 2026 World Championship will be held.
