New POWERPLAY magazine: Sepp Puschnig graces the cover

The 56th issue of POWERPLAY, the official magazine of the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation, is now available. The cover features Josef “Sepp” Puschnig, who passed away in August 2026 at the age of 79. The “Karawanken Bear” won 13 Austrian championship titles with EC-KAC and, in 1999, became the first Austrian player to be inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame. POWERPLAY honours his legacy with a comprehensive obituary.

The new issue also offers a broad range of topics: an extensive interview with Roger Bader, sporting director of the men’s national teams and head coach of the senior men’s national team, provides insights into his work. To mark the 25th anniversary of the women’s national team, POWERPLAY looks back on a quarter of a century of Austrian women’s ice hockey. The Para team is preparing for the upcoming World Championship in Mexico. You can also read what awaits Austria’s youth national teams in the new season – including assessments from the respective head coaches. The issue is rounded off with a comprehensive preview of the domestic leagues.
