ÖEHVOne or two ice hockey fans may already have noticed. The new website "eishockey.at" has been online for just over a month. The Austrian Ice Hockey Federation (ÖEHV) has completely redesigned its online presence. The relaunch was delivered by the Vienna-based digital agencies Bacon & Bold and Codivities – just in time for the start of the new season.
At its heart is the newly developed Game Center, where fans can find all results and statistics from 14 active competitions as well as three youth archives. There is also a new design, an editorial system tailored to the federation and an online shop for ÖEHV fan merchandise integrated directly into the site.
The response from fans has been tremendous: more than 700.000 page views in the first month, an average of seven page views per visit and almost 64.000 clicks via Google in the first 28 days. In total, the platform comprises more than 82.000 subpages, including around 2.000 articles carried over from the previous website.
ÖEHV Managing Director Alexander Helwig: “eishockey.at is the central point of contact for fans, clubs and all stakeholders in Austrian ice hockey. Our aim was to set a new standard for the start of the season, and despite the short lead time, we achieved that together with Bacon & Bold and Codivities. I would like to sincerely thank everyone involved for the excellent cooperation!”
“What made this project special was not only the record time of 58 days, but also the fact that we did without off-the-shelf solutions. The Game Center was rebuilt using several external data sources, the editorial system was individually tailored to the federation and the online shop was also programmed in-house so that it integrates seamlessly into all areas of the site,” say Thomas Ilk, Managing Director of Bacon & Bold, and Alexander Feiner, Managing Director of Codivities.
