The Austrian Ice Hockey Federation (ÖEHV) is offering a new A Licence coaching course in the 2026/27 season. Registration remains open until Thursday (15 October). For interested coaches: applications must be submitted in accordance with the requirements of the Vienna Federal Sports Academy, which also sets out all admission criteria and formal requirements in its official call for applications.

The course begins on 25 November 2026 and ends on 31 July 2027. During this period, prospective A Licence coaches will be comprehensively prepared for their future responsibilities in performance-oriented ice hockey. The programme is not a single week-long course. It is designed as an ongoing development process across several training phases. Alongside specialist and methodological content, the focus is above all on the individual development of participants as coaches.

A further focus is on modern technologies in day-to-day training and coaching work. Digital tools, video analysis and other technological possibilities will not only be introduced, but also specifically integrated into the training process and applied in practice. This enables participants to directly connect theory with practice, reflect on their experiences and continuously develop their own working methods. Exchange among participants, as well as the involvement of experienced coaches and experts, are also key components of the programme.

The A Licence coaching course comprises several in-person phases and accompanying assignments throughout the training year. It concludes with an examination. With the new format, the ÖEHV is continuing its commitment to the ongoing development of coaches in Austrian ice hockey and to creating modern, practice-oriented training opportunities.
