Neck and throat protec­tion manda­tory with imme­diate effect

The ÖEHV naturally supports this IIHF measure. It serves to protect and ensure the safety of all players and complies with the latest guidelines for preventing injuries in ice hockey.

All club representatives, coaches and players must prepare accordingly and ensure that, from the first game of the new season, all players are equipped with approved neck protection and wear it correctly.

Officials will receive specific training to ensure they are optimally prepared for these situations. From the first game onwards, they will enforce the rules consistently and impose the relevant penalties.

With regard to ear protection: wearing ear protection is mandatory in youth and junior leagues as well as in women's leagues (Rules 102.5, 202.5, 202.6). In senior hockey, however, it is not mandatory, although the ÖEHV recommends its use.
