National team puts finishing touches on preparations for Para World Championship
From 29 October to 1 November, the Para national team gathered in Zeltweg, completing no fewer than seven on-ice training sessions, all in pursuit of the major goal: a medal at the Para Ice Hockey World Championship Group C from 6 to 11 December in Bangkok.

“Naturally, I am very pleased that we are back and will be taking part in the World Championship in December,” said Captain Michael Sauer at last Wednesday's season-opening press conference in Vienna. The team was restructured in 2019, played its first two internationals in 2021 and immediately made an impression with a victory over B-nation Finland.
“We get together for a training camp roughly every three months to grow closer together as a team and gain experience,” Michael Sauer offers a brief insight into the national team's activities.
At the Group C World Championship itself, the aim is to compete for medals. It is currently difficult to say where the team really stands by international comparison, Michael Sauer explains: “We are a relatively newly assembled team and still lack a little experience. Nevertheless, we are hugely looking forward to the World Championship. Our major goal is a medal, and we noticed again at the last training camp that we have made a big leap forward. Everyone is highly motivated, and the fighting spirit and determination are there.”
