From the seventies until the mid-eighties, Günther Oberhuber took to the ice for the IEV and later ECS teams. Ice hockey fans in Tyrol knew him as a tough-tackling "clean-up man", a defenceman with attacking ambition, a defensive strategist who tried not to take a step too many while always being where the action was. A man for all occasions.

The multiple national team player passed away during the night before Sunday at the age of 67. The highlight of his career was the Olympic Winter Games in his home city of Innsbruck.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and companions.
