Moser Medical Graz99ers race to the title

The fourth final initially began much like the previous finals. In a fairly even opening phase, the Moser Medical Graz99ers were the first to take the lead. Graz successfully disrupted Pustertal's build-up play in the eighth minute, and Kevin Roy showed great patience and skill when one-on-one with goaltender Eddie Pasquale to make it 1:0. For HC Falkensteiner Pustertal, who were playing to keep their season alive, it was something of a wake-up call. The Wolves played with even greater determination, and Rok Ticar equalised from the left in the eleventh minute. The momentum then shifted to the hosts from Bruneck, who subsequently created numerous chances. In the 15th minute, the time had come: Mikael Frycklund gave Pustertal the lead for the first time in this final series on the power play.

The second period began with chances at both ends. In the 15th minute, Anders Koch got the puck over the line for the equaliser with a lucky bounce. Pustertal subsequently pushed to retake the lead, but time and again were denied by Nicolas Wieser or the frame of the goal. However, the hosts remained the dominant side for long stretches of this period too.

Graz made the better start to the final period. In the 42nd minute, Michael Schiechl sent the puck dangerously in front of goal, and Kevin Conley restored the Styrians' lead. From that point onwards, the 99ers took complete control: as throughout the playoffs, the Styrians remained incredibly composed and assured. Josh Currie then provided the decisive goal in the 49th minute, making it 4:2 after a fine pass from Kevin Roy and his own rebound. Pustertal opened up in an attempt to come back. The Graz99ers once again demonstrated their coolness, with Lenz Moosbrugger making it 5:2 in the 54th minute. It was Moosbrugger's first goal in the win2day ICE Hockey League – and it came in the championship-winning game. Graz stalwart Michael Schiechl had the final say himself: the long-serving captain made it 6:2 and sent the large contingent of travelling Graz fans into celebration.

A 6:2 victory in the fourth final against HC Falkensteiner Pustertal completed the Styrians' playoff sweep, leaving them unbeaten throughout the entire postseason with 12 wins and not a single defeat. After the Vienna Capitals (2017) and EC Red Bull Salzburg (2022), the Graz99ers are only the third team to achieve this feat. Since the league was re-founded in 2000, the Styrians have also become the seventh different champions of the win2day ICE Hockey League.

Lukas Haudum of the Moser Medical Graz99ers was voted Playoffs MVP by the specialist journalists. Paul Stapelfeldt also set a new record, becoming the first player ever to win the Champions title five years in a row.
