Men begin national team week

Following the gathering on Monday afternoon and a strength session, the team will take to the ice for the first time on Tuesday morning. There have been only minimal changes to the squad. Florian Vorauer and Senna Peeters, both of whom were already part of Austria's squad at the Deutschland Cup in November, have been called up.

Overall, nothing has changed in the composition of the squad, which consists of around 50 per cent WM-experienced players and 50 per cent emerging players.

Head Coach Roger Bader: “Florian Vorauer and Senna Peeters have come in and will strengthen the team at the Österreich Cup. We are going into the week with four complete lines, and I expect every player to show why we should rely on him and take him to a WM.”

The Österreich Cup itself is played in a semi-final/final format. Austria will face Hungary in their opening match on Thursday. Depending on the result, they will play Italy or Poland on Friday.

“As a team, we want to put in two good performances and, of course, win both matches,” said Roger Bader.

For the Österreich Cup, the ÖEHV is offering a one-off promotion: children under 14 are admitted free of charge. Austria's matches will be broadcast live on ORF SPORT +.
