Marco Rossi records first NHL point as Wild beat Montreal Cana­diens

With exactly 14 minutes and 55 seconds played in the second period at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Marco Rossi set up Russian goalscorer Kirill Kaprizov on a two-on-one to make it 3:0 for Minnesota Wild.

Canadiens defenceman David Savard threw himself into a cross-ice pass from Kaprizov to Rossi. The centre took the puck out of the air and sent the little black puck towards goal, where Kaprizov was waiting to put the rebound over the line.

First point after video review

Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis challenged Marco Rossi's play on suspicion of a high stick. The goal was only awarded by the officiating crew after a video review, with the Rankweil native having played the puck on legally below shoulder height. It was Rossi's first point in his eleventh NHL game overall.

Rossi logged 13:48 minutes of ice time, registered two shots on goal, delivered one hit, was credited with one blocked shot, recorded a +1 plus/minus rating and added a takeaway. Minnesota ultimately celebrated a 4:1 win over the Canadiens.

The 21-year-old analysed the game in the dressing room: "We did a good job. The first period may not have been that good, but then we woke up and played our game!"
