Marco Rossi named Player of the Year for the third time

For the third time, after 2021 and 2023, the experts were unanimous: Marco Rossi is the 2024 Player of the Year. The Vorarlberg native now has as many awards as former NHL players Michael Grabner and Michael Raffl.

Only Thomas Vanek remains ahead of Rossi, having been named Player of the Year five times in total. This year's vote went to the 23-year-old by a considerable margin. No surprise, as Rossi recorded 40 points (21 goals, 19 assists) in the 2023/2024 season, earning a place on the NHL All-Rookie Team in his official rookie season.

And, of course, not to be forgotten is the 2024 World Championship, where the centre caused a sensation with Austria. Against Canada, Rossi scored the 6:6 equaliser that sent Austria into overtime and secured an unexpected point. He also contributed no fewer than five assists in the tournament.

The current season has been even more impressive. After 61 games, Rossi has 21 goals and 30 assists. This currently makes him Minnesota Wild's second-highest scorer (as of 4 March 2025).

“Such recognition is always something special. Of course, my main focus is not on honours. You always try to be the best, establish yourself in the NHL and make sure you keep getting better and better. That is where my focus lies. Everything else, such as awards, comes afterwards.
