Marco Rossi joins the Vancouver Canucks

Marco Rossi’s time in Minnesota is over, at least for the time being. The Vorarlberg native played 202 games for the Wild and will be chasing goals for the Vancouver Canucks from 2026 onwards, a team that has expressed an interest in Rossi for some time. The centre is part of a larger trade that also includes Liam Öhgren and Zeev Buium, who will join him in Vancouver.

“We have been trying to sign Marco Rossi for a long time because we knew we needed to strengthen at centre,” explained Jim Rutherford, the Canucks’ President of Hockey Operations. The Canadians traded their captain Quinn Hughes for Marco Rossi and his two teammates, while also receiving a first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.

According to Rutherford, the Canadian team is undergoing a rebuild, with Rossi set to play a significant role. The aim is to bring players aged 25 or younger to the franchise. With a record of 11-17-3, the Canucks currently sit eighth in the Pacific Division and are eight points behind the Wild Card places. The long-term goal is to build a team with young players that can one day win the Stanley Cup, explains Vancouver General Manager Patrik Allvin.

The 24-year-old only signed a three-year contract worth $ 15 million with Minnesota last summer, which he takes with him to Vancouver. Marco Rossi has recorded 13 points this season (4 goals, 9 assists), but has been sidelined by injury in recent weeks.
