Marco Kasper records an assist in victory in the Austrian show­down – Marco Rossi scores his 21st goal of the season

In the “return match” at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center in front of 18.618 fans, Marco Rossi picked up where he had left off on Saturday in the first Austrian showdown in the NHL for six years. After scoring the overtime winner in the 4:3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings and Marco Kasper, he gave Minnesota a 1:0 lead on a power play in the first period, converting a rebound from close range while falling (8th minute).

The Vorarlberg native, who logged a total of 21:34 minutes of ice time, had already matched his mark from the 2023/2024 season with his 21st goal of the season after 58 games played. With an additional 29 assists, the centre now has 50 points.

Jakub Lauko made it 2:0 just under four minutes later. The Red Wings initially cut the deficit to 1:2 through Vladimir Tarasenko in the second period exactly as a power play expired (31th minute). Marco Kasper had initiated the fine move that led to the goal. The Carinthian, who spent 19:06 minutes on the ice, now has 13 assists. With ten goals this season, he has recorded 23 points so far.

Detroit defenceman Simon Edvinsson scored the equaliser later in the second period and completed the turnaround in the final period. His second goal sealed the 3:2 road win.
