League extends transfer freeze

There will be no transfers in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League “until further notice”. In a video conference on Wednesday, the clubs agreed to extend the ban, which was originally due to expire.

The financial basis for new signings is still not in place, as it remains unclear how many spectators will be permitted to attend matches. The league is nevertheless continuing to adhere to its planned season start on 25 September, “on the basis of the submitted ‘Return-to-Play’ concept and many positive discussions with the relevant public authorities”.

The other ten clubs approved a proposal by Fehervar allowing players signed before the transfer freeze to be announced “promptly”. No timeframe has been set for how long the transfer freeze will remain in place. “The overall situation will continue to be assessed in weekly video conferences and taking new information into account,” the statement said.
