Leaders Adler Kitzbühel and EK Zeller Eisbären continue winning streaks

Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel celebrated their third consecutive win on Saturday, with the league leaders prevailing 5:2 in Merano. Although the home side took the lead after 35 seconds through Chad Pietroniro, two goals from Chris Schutz turned the game in favour of the Tyroleans. Another brace from Sebastian Christiansen put the result beyond doubt in the middle period. In the end, Kitzbühel celebrated their fifth consecutive away win in Merano.

EK Zeller Eisbären carried the momentum from recent weeks with them and also collected their first three away points of the season. Although Sterzing took the lead as early as the third minute through Lukas de Lorenzo Meo, the visitors equalised through Alexander Lahoda in the first period. The Pinzgau side had the better of the game for long stretches and turned it around through Philipp Putnik in the middle period. Tyler Cuma sealed the win in the closing stages as Zell am See celebrated their fourth consecutive victory.

Red Bull Hockey Juniors took the lead twice in the first period against Gröden. However, the visitors took control in the middle period and turned the game in their favour, aided by a brace from Simon Pitschieler. They went into the second break at 3:5. After Gröden extended their lead to 3:6, the Salzburg side came back to within one goal. But Stephan Deluca secured the 5:7 final score, lifting the “Furie” into fourth place in the standings.

Despite trailing twice, Unterland prevailed at EC Bregenzerwald. After Richard Schlögl gave ECB an early lead, the Cavaliers equalised in the middle period. Then, in the 39th minute, events came thick and fast: just 19 seconds after ECB retook the lead, Kristians Samitis levelled the score. In the third period, Davide Girardi turned the game in favour of the South Tyroleans on the power play, as they narrowly prevailed 3:2. Bregenzerwald therefore remain bottom of the table.
