Lakers Kärnten lose to Sabres St. Pölten in the win2day Austrian Women´s Hockey League

The Sabres took the lead in Klagenfurt through Tamina Schall in the eleventh minute. A brace from Hannah Tait put the game beyond doubt in the middle period, but the hosts pulled one back through Isabelle Hardy a few seconds before the second intermission.

However, the Sabres were not unsettled and even extended their lead to 1:5 in the third period. With their third win from four AWHL matches, St. Pölten defended second place.

European Women’s Hockey League

Bratislava extended their lead at the top of the European Women’s Hockey League. The Slovak side won 4:2 away to the battling DEC Salzburg Eagles on Saturday. Hana Fancovicova scored the only goal of the first period, before Bratislava pulled away to 3:1 in the middle period. Janka Hlinkova sealed the win eight minutes from time.

The EC Graz99ers Huskies celebrated their second EWHL win of the season. MAC Budapest took the lead in Styria, but a brace from Tamara Grascher turned the game in the hosts’ favour in the middle period. Andrea Kiss equalised in the 45th minute, sending the game into overtime and later to a penalty shoot-out. Nina Ausperger secured the home win, with Graz moving up from last to ninth place.

Aisulu Almaty gave Budapest Jegkorong Akademia no chance, with the hosts winning 7:0. Annlise Hayes and Cassidy Maplethorpe each scored twice. Almaty remain third in the EWHL standings.
