With a resounding win, the Lady Hawks secured 3rd place in the win2day AWHL. The Carinthians had already celebrated a 5:1 victory against the Huskies at the end of October – and followed that up on Saturday. Siri Zimmermann gave them the lead in the 19th minute. In a high-scoring second period, the Lady Hawks pulled away to 6:1 before Klaudie Pietraszová sealed the 7:1 final score in the third period.

KSV Highlanders, who had lost Friday’s battle for top spot against the Sabres, ended the calendar year with a victory over Lakers Kärnten. The Highlanders controlled the game from the outset and were able to rely on an unstoppable Lena Dauböck. The KSV forward scored four of the five goals to lead her team to victory.

The league leaders from St. Pölten had a far tougher time in their final game of the year. Following a scoreless opening period, the Eagles took the lead. The Sabres only forced overtime in the closing minutes, which was ultimately decided by a goal from Antonia Matzka. The Sabres will therefore spend the turn of the year at the top of the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League.
