Kundl beat Hohenems 2:1 / Kufstein cele­brate an 4:3 over­time win over Wattens / WEV prevail 4:0 in Kapfen­berg

EHC Kundl did their job in the battle for the final playoff place in the West Division and received some help. The point gained in their 3:4 defeat at HC Kufstein was not enough for the Penguins in the playoff race.

Kundl and Hohenems produced an intense battle in which the goaltenders distinguished themselves on several occasions. Following goals from Maximilian Mackner for Kundl and Leon Schmeiser for Hohenems, the score was 1:1 after the first period. Michal Kluka made it 2:1 shortly before the break in the middle period. Goalscoring chances at both ends went unconverted in the final period, and Kundl held on for a 2:1 win.

Kufstein win thriller against Wattens in overtime

Around 535 spectators also witnessed an open contest in Kufstein. The home side fell behind in the 13th minute, but Florian Eder equalised before the first intermission. Kufstein took the lead twice in the middle period, but the Penguins equalised on both occasions. The visitors pushed for the winner over the final 20 minutes and created significantly more chances, but time and again they found Thomas Pfarrmaier in unbeatable form. In overtime, Aleksi Airaksinen needed just 15 seconds to score the winner for the home side.

Kapfenberg unable to make the most of their greater number of chances and lose 0:4 to WEV

In the East Division, Wiener Eislauf-Verein proved masters of efficiency. KSV Kängurus created more scoring chances overall but could not get the puck over the line. Instead, they fell behind in the 39th minute. The third period then saw goals come in quick succession: Theodor Fichtinger first made it 2:0 in the 42nd minute, before Lukas Kaider and Xaver Emslander secured the result in the 48th minute, scoring within 36 seconds of each other. WEV eventually prevailed 4:0.
