KSV High­landers win thrilling win2day AWHL clash in Salzburg

In a thrilling first period between the Eagles and Highlanders, the visitors initially took the lead twice. Salzburg equalised on both occasions, before Meagan Byrum even made it 3:2. This time, however, KSV responded with an equaliser for 3:3, which was also the score at the first intermission.

After the restart, Byrum completed her hat-trick, but the Highlanders turned the game in their favour during the middle period. 34 seconds before the second intermission, Nikola Rumanova made it 4:5. The AWHL league leaders extended their advantage further in the third period, with Sara Confidenti eventually putting the finishing touch on the 4:7 victory.

European Women’s Hockey League

In the European Women’s Hockey League, EC Graz Huskies recorded their first shutout of the season. Following a scoreless first period, Simona Grascher gave the Styrian side the lead at Budapest Jegkorong Akademia. A Tamara Grascher hat-trick put the result beyond doubt and secured an away win for the Huskies, who moved up to eighth place in the EWHL standings.

Aisulu Almaty also extended their lead at the top of the EWHL standings with a 4:1 win over Lakers Kärnten. Cassidy Maplethorpe gave the hosts the lead in the first period, before Almaty pulled clear to 4:0 by the 49-minute mark. The Lakers could only manage a consolation goal through Kelsey Soccio.
