The Highlanders extended their lead at the top of the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League standings, although the 7:3 derby win over Graz was more emphatic than the course of the game suggested.

The score was 3:3 after two periods, with the Huskies taking the lead twice early on. The visitors decided the game in their favour in the final period, with no fewer than three KSV players – Claire Casey, Sara Confidenti and Vanessa Picka – recording three-point nights (1G & 2A each).

Aisulu made a strong start in Klagenfurt and opened the scoring through Annlise Hayes in the third minute. Despite Isabelle Hardy’s quick equaliser, the Lakers struggled to keep pace with Aisulu’s attacking power. The visitors led 4:1 at the end of the first period.

Aisulu’s pressure continued throughout the game, and by the 41st minute they had extended their lead to 8:1. In the final period, the Lakers showed their strength and added two more goals through Kelsey Soccio and Isabelle Hardy.
