Komarek moves to the KHL

Austria once again has a player in the second-best ice hockey league in the world, the Kontinental Hockey League: Konstantin Komarek is moving from Sweden to Dinamo Riga, the Latvian KHL participant.

For the 27-year-old ÖEHV national team forward, who left Red Bull Salzburg to return to Sweden in 2016, it is his first stint abroad outside the country of "Tre Kronor". He also spent part of his youth career there with Lulea, the club for which Komarek played 19 SHL games last season (four goals, ten assists).

He also played for the Malmö Redhawks and Karkskrona. Riga have ground to make up on the sporting front, however, having failed to reach the play-offs in each of the past six years.
