Klagen­furt hosted the 2nd WHPP Ice Hockey Festival and Academy

The second event in the series of WHPP educational events built on the experience gained during the first project year and focused entirely on girls under 18 years of age. The event retained its well-received dual focus on learning experiences on the ice combined with off-ice workshops. The WHPP consortium believes that this comprehensive approach ensures participants receive thorough training in various aspects of ice hockey, including the development of skills, strategies and mental preparation.

The WHPP Festival was played with four mixed teams, assembled from the five project partner countries at the start of the event to enhance the learning experience. Saturday's games were played three-on-three, with referees officiating under the two-referee system, while Sunday's games were played five-on-five, with referees officiating under the three-referee system.

At the same time, the WHPP Academy focused on training the target groups. During the three-day event, participants attended presentations and workshops delivered by IIHF experts: Alexia CHEYROUX (FRA), Erika HOLST (SWE), Kristi Kehoe (USA), Satu Kiipeli (FIN), Katja PASANEN (FIN) and Florence SCHELLING (SUI).
